CreativeMorning Melbourne

Early in 2022, I announced that I wanted to take the leap and start speaking on stage. This came as no surprise to those in my inner circle, especially considering how much content I produce and the depth of my research into creativity and post-traumatic growth. But announcing something and actually putting it into practice are two different things, which is why I was over the MOON when Jessamy Gee, chapter host of CreativeMornings Melbourne, reached out to see if I’d like to be a speaker at their free monthly breakfast lecture event.

I obviously said yes and went about crafting my 20 minute talk around the theme of KISMIT, which perfectly encapsulates my creative career to date. But I didn’t just want to give my audience of fellow creatives a ‘highlights reel’ of my work, I wanted to dive much deeper than that. I decided to share the journey of creating my PhD research and tie in the key takeaways of post-traumatic growth, particularly as Melbourne was still pretty raw from the endless months of COVID-19 lockdowns.

What I didn’t expect was just how warm and attentive the crowd would be. It was truly one of the most nourishing experiences I’ve ever had on a stage and it prompted me to join the CM team as Programming Lead in 2024 to help facilitate more opportunities for Creatives to share their story and knowledge in the same way I did.

You can watch the full talk on my Speaker page.
